Co-Alliance Member, Employee Named 2023 4R Advocates

Feb 17, 2023
The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) recently selected three farmers and their fertilizer retailers as 4R Advocates for 2023. 4R Advocates are recognized for their commitment to implementing fertilizer management practices that incorporate the principles of 4R Nutrient Stewardship and have demonstrated economic and environmental benefits.

The 4R Advocate program is a true boots-on-the-ground concept, demonstrating the in-field successes of implementing 4R practices based on the right source, rate, time, and placement of fertilizer.

4R Nutrient Stewardship provides a guide to reach in-field goals, such as increased production and profitability, enhanced environmental protection, and improved sustainability. It takes a strong retail partner to understands the importance of conservation to reach these goals.

We’re so excited that Co-Alliance farmer-member Randy Bales, Fairholme Ag LLC, of Lewisville, IN and Co-Alliance YieldPro Specialist Eric Steigerwalt were named 4R Advocates!

Eric Steigerwalt, YieldPro Specialist

Throughout the year Randy and Eric will be included in TFI’s outreach efforts to promote fertilizer management practices by hosting farm field days, participating in conference panels, and speaking on behalf of 4Rs to their farming peers.

Congratulations to Randy & Eric for being named one of The Fertilizer Institute’s 2023 4R advocates. Your work to educate growers on the 4R principles of nutrient stewardship has undoubtedly improved water quality and ecosystem health in the Big Blue River Watershed and benefited all who call Henry County, IN home.
