First-Ever SEED Applicants Visit Co-Alliance

Jan 26, 2024
It’s been nearly a month since we closed the application process for our inaugural SEED (Securing Experience + Employee Development), a two-year program where recent high school graduates can be hired on full-time at Co-Alliance to explore the diversity of our cooperative resulting in long-term employment which they find rewarding and fulfilling while being an integral part of our business.

This program is strategically designed for non-college-bound graduates who are ready to get work rather than report to a classroom.

They will rotate through all areas of our business (Agronomy, Energy, Grain, Swine & Animal Nutrition and Corporate) to find the place which they can build a promising career in agriculture. At the conclusion of their two-year experience, they will work with the SEED program manager to evaluate their fit within the company find the best opportunity for them personally. We are confident this program will be a springboard to a rewarding and fulfilling career in energy and agriculture.

This week we welcomed all Class of 2024 applicants to our Indian Trails location to be formally introduced to the cooperative system. We hosted the SOWing SEEDs day (SEED Orientation & Welcome) which invited the applicants to our cooperative business to take a deep dive into our business divisions, the details and schedule of the SEED program, and to introduce them to a few key people who will make this experience a fantastic one for those selected.

Applying for and accepting a fulltime job prior to high school graduation is a huge accomplishment. We also understand that it could bring many questions for someone who has not been full-time in the workforce until now. That’s why we also invited parents and FFA advisors to attend, ask questions and learn more about this massive opportunity.

The SEED applicants spent time hearing for each of our divsion mentors, who will guide the new hire through the 2-year experience to ensure they're benefitting, engaging and growing.

We are so excited about the turnout of this event but more importantly the quality of high school seniors that applied. They will now go through the interview process with members of the Co-Alliance team and following those interviews, two candidates will be selected to move through the SEED program.
